From Shelter to Rescue to Home 415.621.3647

We've come home!

From 1990 through 2023 Wonder Dog Rescue rescued hundreds of Boston Terriers along with many small dogs of all ages and conditions in the Bay Area. We established a Sanctuary in Sonoma County through 2023.

That Fall we opened an adoption center in Hudson, NY, to move at-risk California dogs to locations where they would be adopted.  We've had wonderful success with the Hudson location, thanks to the Marion & Richard Graham Foundation, the SouthWest Airlines Transport team, Sweet Briar Transport and Alaska Airlines. Now we are feeling  a strong pull to return to our work in California.

Thus, we are currently re-establishing a foster network in the Bay Area, Northern CA and the Central Valley. In order to pull dogs from overcrowded California shelters, we NEED foster homes for incoming dogs! Can you help?

Can You Foster a Dog?

If you can provide short or longer term foster for a Boston terrier or other small dog please click this button to submit an application to Foster.

Have Questions About Fostering?

If you have any questions about fostering or volunteering in another way, please reach out, we'd love to have you join our team!

The Hudson location will reopen as a new rescue organization, and will continue its valuable work rehoming dogs in NY.

Wonder Dog Rescue

Wonder Dog’s current lifesaving mission is a synthesis of 34 years of rescue work, starting with a Boston Terrier rescue in San Francisco. As the organization grew, so also did our ability to help other dogs in need. We established a sanctuary in Sonoma county in 2020.

In 2023 we successfully opened a rescue in Hudson NY, to create a method of getting at-risk dogs out of California to areas where they would be adopted. This location will be operated by a new rescue in 2025, freeing us up to return to CA.

We are passionate about our work, and the love shared with adopters, volunteers, and.... the dogs!

Our Mission

Our mission is to alleviate the suffering of at-risk dogs through direct action. We achieve this through the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs and puppies who come into our program. We also strive to help the most underserved, the aged, those with severe medical needs and those who have suffered trauma. For years we have provided compassionate hospice care to dogs at the end of their lives. Ecological damage has caused social and economic problems.
